From 1st June 2020, private landlords in England will be required to have the electrical installation (EICR) in their rental properties checked by a qualified electrician to ensure that they are safe. This means that electrical installations must be inspected and tested prior to the start of a new tenancy from 1st July 2020.  Checks must be carried out on any existing tenancies by 1st April 2021

Safety for your tenants

As a responsible landlord, it is advised that you have Residual Current Detection (RCD) on your fuseboard. This is in place to protect your tenants and your property. It is also advised that you have working and in date smoke alarms & Carbon Monoxide alarms. Any damaged equipment should be replaced as soon as it is reported. We can help you with this, and we can also help advise you on what needs to be done, to bring your electrical installation to the required standard

Will I get a certificate

There is no requirement for an electrical inspector and tester to issue you with a certificate but an (EICR) report will be issued which will include t he results of the inspection and test (satisfactory or unsatisfactory). If applicable, a list of observations requiring remedial work or further investigation, and the date the next inspection and test is due by
